FEAR, GREED, AND OTHER TRADING DEMONS

There comes a time in the life of every trader when he (or she) must face himself and know who he really is. Sadly, it is a confrontation to which many are unwilling to submit, but YOU MUST FACE YOUR DEMONS AND OVERCOME THEM. FEAR OF LOSING
The number one problem facing most traders is that of fear, and after much thought and personal debate I have come to realize that the fear of losing is the great all-encompassing fear that plagues most traders. Inherent in the fear of losing are:

The fear of financial loss
• The fear of losing face
• The fear of losing out
Of course, the most devastating fear to a trader is that of losing his or her trading capital. The usual result of loss of capital is the end of a trading career.
The fear of losing face is a problem primarily for those who have put their reputations on the line by telling others of their trading prowess. Learning to keep your mouth shut may be difficult, but it is necessary.
The fear of losing out involves the fear of missing a trade. It stems from the feeling that: “This is the trade that will make me rich, I dare not miss it.”
All these
fears can be inextricably bound in a complexity that is beyond
my ability to describe. Nevertheless, FEAR is the greatest
enemy of the majority of aspiring traders. You may need professional

GREED
Greed and the fear of missing out on a “great” trade are cousins. However, greed can stand alone as the enemy of a trader. Greed is what causes many traders to stay in a trade too long. “Just a few more ticks, and I’ll get out,” is one of the great destroyers of profits which could have and should have been taken. Greed says, “I’ll give this trade a little more time, or a little more room.” We’ve all done it. Isn’t it time to admit it? If you are willing to face yourself, keep reading!
DISCONTENT
One of greed’s best friends is discontent. They are bosom pals when it comes to asking a trade for just a few more ticks. Discontent is also seen in the person who takes a nice profit from a trade and then regrets having gotten out when he or she could have made even more. Does this describe you? If so, solutions are within reach.
SELFISHNESS
“Selfish” describes the trader who seeks tops and bottoms. This is the trader who wants it all. If selfishness is your problem, we have answers for you.
Any and all of these quirks of human nature can result in the destruction of a trader’s aspirations, causing him/her to end in a demoralizing defeat.
