Your book: "Trading is a Business"

I just had to send you a late-night note on how much am getting from your book. I have read many books on trading, but yours is the first one to say trading is boring, it's hard work, you have to keep detailed records, and patience and perseverance count. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

"Trading the Ross Hook"

Joe,

I am on the last few pages of your book about trading Ross Hooks. You already had answered my question about the value of real time data. I just had not gotten far enough, and also I was impatient. I just wanted to say thank you for your honesty and open approach of sharing your trading experiences in your books. I am sure this was a big undertaking, but I sure do appreciate it as I am sure others do. I will contact your Ross trading about ordering your book “Trading by the Minute.”

Once again thank you.

Sincerely, Lu

Dear Sir or Madam,

I recently ordered “Trading the Ross Hook” and “Trading by the Book” and I am overwhelmed by the sincerity and competency of Joe Ross. Seven years ago, I quit a management career in another industry to switch over into retail based Financial Services and personal trading of stocks and futures. I’ve tried almost every piece of software and newsletter available in an attempt to educate myself about trading. I’ve spent almost all of my personal time trying to get a handle on the trading strategy that works. Sadly it seems I’ve wasted thousands of hours and large amounts of money lost in the markets. Reading Joe’s books now for the first time has inspired me to the very positive impact of your manuals have had on me at this time in my career, and I have not yet scratched the surface, so to speak.

I truly believe that I need a mentor like Joe Ross because I know that I can’t “reinvent the wheel” myself, even to a very basic extent.

Christopher, Switzerland.

Dear Joe,

I'd like to thank you for writing Trading the Ross Hook. Now that I've retired from public life, I can devote fulltime to trading. What a joy!

The first book on trading I bought after considering what Roberts had said was your Trading by the Book. And now I've just got through my first reading of Trading the Ross Hook. I must tell you, every question I've had about what I was seeing on a price chart is covered. I've seen hooks for years & didn't know what to do with them, along with a lot of other stuff I couldn't figure out.

Your KISS approach plus what you've said about insiders, also works for me. I too am not one to use a lot of fancy indicators. My approach is to try to identify the support & resistance numbers the pit traders are using, contain prices like your 3x3 MAC, and now trade with the trend & reactions with your hooks. Your explanation of double tops & double bottoms is also extremely helpful. Using different words, you & Grant Noble say virtually the same thing. It sure took the mystery out of what happens at important support & resistance. Using what I've learned from you, I'm going to have to buy new pants.....ones with deeper pockets. Thanks again.

Trading by the Book:

To: JoeRoss
From: Peter

First, I purchased a copy of "Trading By The Book". Generally speaking, I find every "Market" related book has some "pearls" of wisdom. Here, I was pleasantly surprised to find that almost every sentence had meaning and merit. I felt like I was doing surgery and being lead only by the manual (as opposed to the doctor standing next to me). Wow, it was possible to understand and believe that I could actually trade that way. This, only having read the content one time. I know multiple reads will enhance my understanding measurably. Finding that there was such quality/value/depth with your work, I purchased the remaining volumes (known to me) - Trading is a Business, Trading the Ross Hook, Trading by the Minute, and Trading Optures and Futions, as well as the tape series on giving market orders. 1 am on page 129-130 in Trading is a Business as I write this note to you. Previously, I thought, that there could not be a better written study than Trading by the Book. I was wrong. Trading is a Business contains such valuable information it has to be a "traders" Bible. And, again, I am only getting started. Additionally, a quick (and I mean quick) perusal of the other books suggest my investment will be more than a
good bet. Actually, as I see it, Trading is a Business could easily be worth the "lot" of them. You may consider yourself a seasoned and successful trader. If your books mirror your experience, then no doubt you are a successful trader. However, I submit that you are also, and possibly more so, a proficient teacher. I appreciate and thank you for your efforts here.

2. I noted in the back of Trading by the Book, that you offered seminars (for those who needed them). Of course, I think after seeing what some of the others (market Guru's) have done, if one were to stick with and practice your materials for two to three years that they would be well advanced of what others have previously provided. Frankly, I can't even imagine how your seminar(s) could be any better than your writings. However, I suspect they might. My interest is to learn from the best, accordingly, I would like to be a student.

Mr. Ross: I believe there is a purpose or way
to trade without losing. Either way I am determined to be successful no matter how much work is involved. Over the past few months I have looked at the market in many different ways, but I must say that ways that you teach in "Trading By the Book" have been far greater than anything I have seen before.
I have probably read this book 7 times and read certain parts many more times than this. The methods in "Trading by the Book" have been so great in fact, that they have seemed to completely change the manner in which I see the ticks. Despite the 123's, hooks and congestion zone expansions being incredibly effective, my favorite of these methods has been the ledge. And over the past few months I have probably gone through thousands of graphs just matching high and lows and setting objective points, and I must say that this method hits its objective points amazingly well.

TNT 1-4:

I also want to take this opportunity to tell you how grateful I am for your trading books. I've got 3 so far, and they are just fantastic. Especially TNT II, it is exactly what I've needed in my trading. I have been keeping a journal of my trading and keeping track of my Life Index, and the results thus far have been superb! I finally have direction in my trading and feel like I am overcoming bad habits and replacing them with good ones, just because I am learning what makes me tick!
